CDL Campina Grande projects 8% growth in Father's Day sales

The sales of the Campina Grande Trade related to Father's Day, which will be celebrated this year on the 12th, should record a growth of up to 8% compared to the same period last year, according to the House of Shopkeepers (CDL).

   According to the entity's estimation, sales should be stimulated by clothing and winter footwear settlements. The shopkeepers of the city are also betting on the affective appeal of the date to encourage the sales of August.

   In addition to clothing and footwear, other sectors impacted by the date are sporting goods, perfumeries, jewelers, opticians, bookstores, stationery, telephony, technology and items of lesser value, such as wines and chocolates. The bars and restaurants sector should also benefit from the date.

   The President-in-Office of the entity, Carlos Botelho, explains that the number of people who should present their parents increased and this is due to the fact that the celebration has strong emotional appeal, and also the entry of resources from the resumption of withdrawals from the quotas of the PIS/PASEP in August and the return of the generation of jobs in Campina Grande. Still according to the shopkeeper, the average ticket estimated for this year is R $120.00.

   Botelho notes that sales related to Father's Day, the first commemorative date of the second semester of the year, serve as a thermometer for trade. "If they are positive, we will have a good indication of what we can expect from the upcoming important commemorative dates for trade, such as children's Day and Christmas," he said.

   To stimulate purchases, promotions, offers, settlements, disclosure and simpler and more flexible payment methods remain the best strategies.

   Although Brazilians are still sensitive to the effects of slow economic recovery and unemployment, the majority (61%) of consumers should go shopping on this Father's Day – the data is slightly higher than the 55% of respondents who made purchases on the same date Last year. The conclusion is a survey done in all capitals by the National Confederation of Shopkeepers (Cndl) and the Credit Protection Service (SPC Brazil). Altogether, the expectation is that almost 93 million people make some purchase in the period, which should move an approximate figure of R $13.9 billion in the sectors of trade and services.
