61.7 million Brazilians are named negactivated, shows the estimate of SPC Brazil and Cndl

Age group with the highest proportion of negactivated is between 30 and 39 years. Southeast Region concentrates the largest number of negactivated: 26.7 million consumers

The volume of Brazilians with overdue accounts and recorded in the registrations of debtors follows high. According to data from the indicator of the Credit protection Service (SPC Brazil) and the National Confederation of Shopkeepers (CNDL) The estimate is that Brazil has 61.7 million Brazilians with some overdue account and the CPF restricted to hire credit or Shopping in installments.  The number represents 40.5% of the population aged between 18 and 95 years.

In February, there was an increase of 2.71% in the amount of delinquents in comparison with the same month last year. In the monthly comparison, i.e., between January and February 2018, the indicator showed an increase of 0.55%. The increase reflects, to a good extent, the advance of delinquency observed in the Southeast region – until December 2017, the legislation of the state of São Paulo required the sending of a letter with acknowledgement of receipt (AR) as a requirement for negation, making it difficult to include new Records.

"The estimate reflects the economic difficulties that families still face, with the high level of unemployment and the still-compressed income. But it is not only the conjuncture that explains the phenomenon of delinquency – in many cases, the oversight with the finances leads to the situation of uncontrolled and the consequent delay of the accounts, "says SPC Brazil president Roque Pellizzaro.

Age group with the highest proportion of negactivated is between 30 and 39 years

The estimation by age group reveals that it is between 30 and 39 years old that the highest frequency of negactivated is observed. In February 2018, a little more than half of the population in this age group (51%) had the name registered in debtors ' registers.

It is also worth highlighting the fact that a significant percentage of the population aged between 40 and 49 years (49%) was negative, similarly to consumers aged between 25 and 29 (46%). Among the youngest, aged 18 to 24 years, the proportion falls to 20%. In the elderly population, considering the age range between 65 and 84 years, the proportion is 31%.

It is in the southeast region where the largest number of customers with overdue accounts is concentrated, in absolute terms: 26.7 million – a number that accounts for 40% of total consumers residing in the state. The second region with the highest absolute number of debtors is the northeast, which has 16,490,000 negactivated, or 41% of the population. Number of debts drops 1.20% in February

Another number calculated by SPC Brazil and Cndl was the volume of debts in the name of individuals. In this case, the negative variation was 1.20% in the annual comparison, and 0.40% in the monthly comparison.

The debt data opened by the creditor sector reveals that the sector that presented the highest high was communication, with a variation of 10.20%, followed by the banks, which had an advance of 2.31%. The water and light and trade sectors observed a decrease of 4.25% and 6.78%, respectively.

In terms of participation, banks hold little more than half of total debts (50%). Then, trade (18%), the communication sector (14%), and water and light (8%) appear.

The consumer default indicator summarizes all the information available in the databases to which SPC Brazil (Credit protection Service) and Cndl (National Confederation of Shopkeepers) have access. The information available refers to the capitals and the interior of the 27 units of the Federation. The estimate of the number of delinquents has an approximate error of 4 p.p., at a confidence interval of 95%.
