The name Raimundo Lira today is one of the best known in Brazil thanks to its wide political performance. Born in Cajazeiras, the entrepreneur began his career in 1964 as a partner of a wholesale fabric firm, with the name of a. F. Braga and Cia, headquartered in Rua João Pessoa. In 1965 he founded, with his father, José Augusto de Lira, a wholesale sugar firm. In December 1967 acquired together with the father and Grupo Dão Silveira, Cavesa, authorized dealer of the Volkswagen brand. In 1977 he founded the Camdesa, authorized concessionaire of the Mercedes – Benz brand and in 1979 acquired the FIAT authorized concessionaire, putting the name of Auvesa.
In CDL, Raimundo fought for the process of modernization of the internal sectors, seeking to give more agility and promptness to the services. "Very young, at the age of 24, I was elected president of the shopkeepers ' club. In my management, we have implemented one of the first SPC (Credit protection Service) of Brazil, besides seeking to modernize various sectors of the club, aiming to further improve the services. The mission was to strengthen the relationship between CDL and trade as a whole, in search of development ", declares the former president. In addition to active and acting political life, the senator dedicates himself to his wife, children and grandchildren. "I am an extremely family-connected person. I am married to Campinense Gitana, full professor of the Federal University, for more 47 years. I have four children, all campinenses: Rodolfo, Isabela, Eduardo and Rogério. I have five wonderful grandchildren who make me relive the happiness of having small children. I only keep good memories of my CDL management.
