SPC launches sales reconciliation service with cards

Three out of ten (29.0%) traders and service providers have faced some kind of problem by conducting sales on credit and debit cards, food stamps or through online payments. The finding is a survey made by the Credit Protection Service (SPC Brazil) and the National Confederation of Shopkeepers (Cndl) in the 27 capitals and in the country. The main complaints, according to the entrepreneurs heard, are undue charges (11.1%) and uncredited payments after the sale transaction (9.2%).

According to the research, selling on the card is a reality for the vast majority of retailers: seven out of ten entrepreneurs already offer their customers the possibility of paying on the credit card (72.3%) and in debt (70.1%). Despite the consolidation of the electronic means of payments among retail entrepreneurs, 28.7% of these entrepreneurs do not carry out any control or conciliation mechanism of sales made on the card.

The reconciliation of cards, basically consists in verifying whether the amount received by the sale the debit or credit corresponds to the correct value (discounting the fees) to be passed on by the carrier. It allows, for example, to know if the fees charged for using these means of payment are correct.

To help especially the small and micro retailer, SPC Brasil has launched the SPC Conciliador, a new technology solution that simplifies communication between credit card operators, debit cards and also benefits and retailers and service providers The whole country. The main functionality of the SPC conciliator is to enable automatic conference of transactions made on various types of cards and flags, facilitating bank reconciliations quickly and safely.

"The conciliator SPC is synonymous with productivity gains. Errors that can occur in sales processing directly impact the cash flow of companies. There are few cents per sale, but when there is a large volume of transactions, the damage is considerable and the entrepreneur becomes aware of the importance of this type of control ", explains the president of SPC Brazil, Roque Pellizzaro Junior.

According to the study, 85.0% of entrepreneurs see benefits in reconciling sales with cards, mainly due to the better control of cash flow (50.0%), allow visibility on future receipts (29.7%) and the fact that they have in hand information To assist in decision-making (27.7%).

Among those who do sales conference, 66.7% is still in manual mode

According to the survey, 66.7% of traders and service providers who do not make bank reconciliation are at a disadvantage because they do not adopt this type of internal control in their companies, mainly because they do not know how much they receive with each payment medium ( 22.0%) and are exposed to frauds of operators and malicious vendors, who can simulate sales to then cancel them (13.6%).

Other risks felt by these entrepreneurs are loss of money due to payments not made by the operators (12.5%), charges higher than those agreed with the carriers (12.1%), inability to follow how much it costs to keep the Card machines (12.0%) In addition to undue charges, duplicate debit or charging for use of technology that was not contracted by the establishment (10.7%).

Among the entrepreneurs consulted who adopt some type of sales control by cards, 65.2% do so manually, mainly through spreadsheets in the computer (38.8%) and notebook (26.4%). "With so many daily transactions, how can the shopkeeper be sure that the receipts are correct or that the fees applied and discounted on each sale actually correspond to what was negotiated with the carriers? In addition, it is important to avoid fraud, such as duplicity sales and undue cancellations. This type of control only works effectively if it is automatic and not manual, which is subject to failure, "says Pellizzaro Junior.
