The intention of household consumption (ICF), established by the National Confederation of Trade in Goods, services and Tourism (CNC), reached 95.9 points in January 2019, registering a high of 5.1% in relation to December. This monthly elevation is the largest in the series begun in January 2010. In the annual comparison, the increase was 14.7%. Even presenting high, trend observed since November, ICF still remains below 100 points since May 2015, a limit considered dissatisfaction. As was the case in December, the survey shows that all ICF subindices varied positively, highlighting the high of the component moment for durable (+ 11.0%), followed by the perspective of consumption (+ 5.8%) and professional perspective (+ 5.0%). According to the Confederation, the favorable conditions of the labour market, allied to inflationary stability and the receipt of the 13th salary, must have positively influenced the optimism of the families. "In this sense, the current income (+ 3.8%) and current employment (+ 3.1%) Subindices established a favorable scenario for consumption," points out Antonio Everton, a CNC economist. According to the entity, the perception of current consumption level increased 4.4% in relation to December. In the annual comparison, it was the most significant high (+ 24.6%) among the ICF subindices. "In view of the scenario in which economic growth has been gradual, and can be accentuating in 2019, the intention of consumption will tend to grow during the year, but it will hardly repeat the January rate," The economist predicts. Intention of consumption in regions regionally, ICF revealed that the families of the Midwest are the only ones satisfied in the intentions of purchases, reaching 100.7 points, above the zone of indifference (100 points). Next, the south (99.4 points) and the Northeast (96, 1 points) appear. In general, Brazilian families presented themselves in better conditions and less dissatisfied than a year ago. In comparison with 2018, ICF oscillated + 14.7%, thanks to variations in the Southeast (+ 17.8%) and in the Northeast (+ 16.1%), mainly. Perspectives for 2019 The CNC revised to 2.6% its forecast for economic growth in 2019, just above the market. In addition, the entity expects to increase 5.5% of the retail sales volume, percentage above the 4.8% predicted for 2018. In this context, ICF may oscillate, revealing growth trends throughout the year.
